Best friend shot himself in the face while I was in the same room as him. His parents were awful, awful people. It deadened my emotions for a while, and after that whole fiasco I have problems feeling sympathetic. It's also one of the few times where I've never felt that suicide wasn't necessarily also bad choice. For perspective: his parents were druggies, and to punish him, they would tie him to a chair and shoot him up with heroine. He was in 8th grade.
