  Sorry for taking so much time to answer your question.

  The case you are trying to open in InVesalius has how many slices? The amount of memory InVesalius needs to open a case is proportional to the amount of slices. If you have lots of slices, it'll need lots of memory. My suggestion is you try to open these DICOMs using InVesalius in the Linux version (Ubuntu, for example), preferably 64 bit version.

      thanks for your reply. I wanted to open a file with around 490 sclices (360MB). This is probably to much for 2GB RAM on a Windows system (32bit)?

     Thanks for your advice to try another OS. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it, because I am working in a governmental office (museum). A change of OS is therefore not possible.

      Hi Andreas,

      It's a strange thing InVesalius not being able to open 490. What I suggest you is to split the slices (for example, one with 250 slices and other with 240 slices). Then you can generate the surface for each part and join them using, for example, meshlab.
