Hi everybody,

First of all, I`d like to congratulate you for such an excellent program and apologize myself fot the language.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer student at the Simon Bolivar University in Venezuela. Now, I'm developing a project on the Biomechanics Research Group at college and we need help from InVesalius. Basically, we need obtain 3D surfaces from the program and then design pieces in a different CAD program (i.e. Solidworks). However, there is a problem with InVesalius that doesn't allow us finish the projects. Just before "multiplanar visualization" pops up on the screen an error message that indicates "an unhandled exception occurred" which gives us three options: "Retry", "Abort" or "Ignore" and none of them allows us continue what we are doing and close the program automatically without saving any change. ÇThis same message appears when we are splitting disconnected parts on the 3D surface. We don't know how to solve it.

We will wait for your answer! Thanks!

Neis

    Hi Neis,

Apparently, it happens because the amount of memory used by InVesalius overreached the maximum allowed to a software in Windows 32 bits. To ensure this hypothesis I need to know:
    - Operational System (Windows, Linux or Mac?)
    - Is you Operation System 32 bit or 64 bit?
    - The amount of memory in your system.
    - How big is the file you want to open in InVesalius?

You can try to skip some slices when you import. I advise you to use a 64 bit Operational System.

Hi Thiago, thanks for your answer.

We installed InVesalius in two computers. Both of them works under the same features:

      -Operational System: Windows XP

-I'm not sure about the bits, but I can tell you that it says "x86" (I think that Windows XP x86 can support both 32 and 64 bits, I'm not sure because my knowledge about computers is very limited)

      -RAM: 2 GB

-We tried opening files with 300-350 images (about 125-200 MB)

We hope you can help us and that you can understand our english. If you need more information about the computer, the program or the installations, we will try to be able to anwser. Thanks a lot for your help!

        Hi Neis,

It seems your Windows XP is 32 bits. I suggest you to skip some slices when you are importing your dicom files. You can see this option in this image where is highlighted in red i.imgur.com/7arJl.jpg .

Hi Thiago, thanks again for your answers! We followed your advice and the program runs more faster (than when we were taking the whole file). However, the problem continues appearing on the screen. We can create the 3D surfaces and make some changes but suddenly the error message pops up. It appears at any stage of the process. Most commonly, when we are splitting disconnected parts or when we are selecting some regions over the surface. But we never know when the message is going to emerge. After click on "abort" (the only option we can choose), appears another box which apparently links the error with the Microsoft Visual C++. We tried some solutions we found on the web but none of them seems to be the ideal one.We will try to send you the images so you'll can see better the error messages! We will wait for your answer! Thanks a lot!

bonjour mon programme fonctionne tres bien

mais je n'arrive pas a imprimer certains fichiers STL sur mon imprimante 3D, ils sont non-manifolds

            quelqu'un d'autre a t il ce souci?

            merci

              Hi Thiago!

Here, I send you the image with the error message that appears on the screen. The box you will see emerge just after click "Abort" in the previous message ("An unhandled exception occurred"). If you have another solution it will be very well received. I read in another posts that you are now developing a new version of the program. I hope we can be able to enjoy it really soon. Please, I will appreciate if you can keep us informed about it.

Thanks a lot for your help!

                Hi Neis,

Yes, We are doing a lot of improvements in InVesalius. Specially in memory use, now it's using a lot of times less memory than the actual InVesalius.

I suggest you to buy more memory RAM and to use a 64 bit operational system. Unfortunately, that's the only suggest I have to you.

                  Hi Thiago,

Thanks for your answer! Well, I will try another operational system with more memory while we wait for the new version of the program. So far you have been doing an excellent job! Congratulations!

                  Good luck!
