Segmentation and Possible STL file issue

Hi Group,

I have just started working on CT data. I am trying to use InVesalius for segmentation and generating STL files tobe read by Mesh generator.

Here are my querris:

1. Segmentation: Which algorithm goes into InVesalius for segmentation ?

2. STL files: I am reading set of DCIOM files and after segmentation I am saving the volume as STL file. But this STL file is not recognized by NETGEN (its again free tool for meshing http://www.hpfem.jku.at/netgen/index.html).  Though this STL file is recognized by other tools for visualization. Any solutions or thoughts ?

 Thanks

Prab

Dear Prab, > I have just started working on CT data. I am trying to use InVesalius for segmentation and generating STL files tobe read by Mesh generator. Are you doing this for FEA? In this case, could you share with us more details...? We're very interested on this type of application.> Segmentation: Which algorithm goes into InVesalius for segmentation ? 1. Currently InVesalius only provides segmentation based on threshold (we have intensions of providing region growing and other tools soon)> STL files: I am reading set of DCIOM files and after segmentation I am saving the volume as STL file. But this STL file is not recognized by NETGEN (its again free tool for meshing http://www.hpfem.jku.at/netgen/index.html).  Though this STL file is recognized by other tools for visualization. Any solutions or thoughts ? 2. InVesalius 3.0.0 Beta 1 only exports to binary STL. We've made some tests and apparently NETGEN only supports STL ascii... On InVesalius 3.0.0 Beta 2 we will already provide support to ascii... It should be released next week.Regards,Tatiana
