Hello,

I am unable to iopen Dicom files or InVesalius 1 (Promed) files.

The SW hangs and then crashes.

 Advice is welcomed.

    Dear Dr. Daniel Majer,

With our latest release (2.1) you should be able to open .promed files. Please, let us know if this is still not working appropriately.

Could you send us the DICOM files you're trying to open and the software is crashing? One way might be using the ftp our systems like yousendit. This way we can debug InVesalius and see what problem is occuring.

Can you preview files on the DICOM import frame?

Which CT or MR equipment was used to acquire these DICOM files? They might be compressed (some Toshiba Aquillion exams presented this problems and we are still working to be able to open compressed DICOM files).

How many files are you trying to import? What is their resolution (number of columns and lines)?

    Best regards,

    Tatiana

      Dear Tatiana,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have downloaded release 2.1 yesterday and it manages to upload the
      dicom files.
It seems like everything works but the sw crashes quite often.

      Best regards,

      Daniel

        Dear Dr. Daniel Majer,

Please, tell us when InVesalius 2 crashes.

We are still organizing automated testings and, until then, we have no people testing the software before we release new versions. Therefore, it is really important that the community tells us these problems so we can fix them as soon as possible.

        Regards,

        Tatiana

          Dear Tatiana,

The files I am opening are 512x512 pixels.
          There are 286 2D files.
I can see the 2D slices when I want to import them and I can import them.
When I press create it works when I use the lowest option of 258*258
          pixels with 163 slices.
I have never been able to open the 2D files at original resolution,
          the program crashes.
When I get the 3D model it usually crashes the program when I start
          playing with it.
It does not happen in version 1.

          Hopes this helps,

          Daniel

            Dear Daniel,

Thank you for your feedback! It was of great help.

In InVesalius 1 we reformated all inputed slices to 256 resolution, and therefore there was no memory leak. This was not tranparent to the user.

In InVesalius 2 we give the user the oportunity to choose the resolution, whereas we are trying to optimize the usage of memory. However, up to this point, we did not manage to solve the memory leak / crashing problem to a large amount of slices and of high resolution. We are working on this and we expect to solve it soon.

            Best regards,

            Tatiana
